Description
Ready to fall for the wines sommeliers swoon over?
This class takes you up the steep hillsides and through the winding river valleys of Germany, Austria, and Hungary—where cool climates, classic architecture, centuries-old traditions, and bold modern winemakers collide.
We’ll dive into the vibrantly aromatic, high-acid world of German Riesling, explore the peppery snap of Austrian Grüner Veltliner, pick our way across the land of fire and salt to explore Hungarian whites, and finally settle on the banks of the Bodrog and Tisza rivers to savor the legendary sweet wines of Tokaj. Along the way, we’ll adventure into the worlds of steep-slope viticulture, native grape varieties, unique soils, and why these wines are some of the most age-worthy and food-friendly on the planet.
Perfect for curious wine lovers, WSET Level 2+ students, and anyone eager to taste beyond the usual suspects.
You’ll taste 6–8 wines during this guided exploration.
This is Old World wine – on the cooler side.
