Meet VitisHouse Founder - Doreen Colondres

Our house founder is a passionate chef with a profound love for wine. She is an active media personality who is WSET Certified Educator and a tireless world traveler. Working hard to live through her passions for cooking and educating others, Doreen Colondres is also the creator of The Kitchen Doesn’t Bite and the author of the Amazon’s Best Seller, La Cocina No Muerde, published by Penguin Random House.

She doesn’t stop there, though. Doreen is an active contributor to the savory world of food and wine:

She was recently appointed by the European Union as the National Ambassador for D.O Cava and Consorcio del Jamón Serrano for the next three years.  She also hosts events for the Charming Taste of Europe, a campaign founded by the European Union to raise awareness of selected products from Europe.  Additionally, she has been a Chef Ambassador for Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical for the past seven years.

Some of her notable partnerships during the last 10 years include: Italy America Chamber of Commerce, Spanish Trade Commission (ICEX), National Pork Board, Barilla Pasta, Bordeaux Wine Council, Hass Avocado, Fermín Ibérico, Target, American Heart Association, Dandy Farms, Ribera del Duero, Bush Beans, Bumble Bee Foods, Univisión and Fox Network, California Raisins, Fruits from Chile, among others.

She has a BBA in Marketing, studied in culinary schools in NY, CA and FL and has been to more than 40 countries around the world.

  • From 2016-2018 she was a Spokesperson and Consultant for the National Pork Board.
  • In 2018 she was invited to be part of the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour and did a
    wine pairing benefit dinner in Melbourne, Florida.
  • In 2017 she was selected by the Culinary Institute of America to host the Arriba Caribe
    professional congress.
  • In 2016, she worked her first harvest season at Chateau Biac in Bordeaux, France.
  • In 2016 & 2017 Bodega Monteviejo selected her as a chef for the prestigious Park Hyatt
    Master of Food and Wine in Mendoza, Argentina.
  • In 2014, Doreen became the first Hispanic Celebrity Chef for Bordeaux Wine Council in the US.
  • In 2013 she was a Ribera del Duero spokesperson in Mexico.
  • In 2012, was a judge and spokesperson for the Ribera del Duero 2011 vintage in Spain.
  • From 2010-2015 she hosted 3 cooking shows with Fox Life-Utilisima Network, airing in
    16 different countries.
  • And from 2008-2017 she was a Food & Wine Editor for Meredith Publishing.
