This intro level online program with educator support will take you four weeks (about six hours) in total to complete, plus study time. You will have access to your WSET student platform where you can ask your WSET educators questions, get answers, and engage with other sake lovers.

What you’ll learn:
Our WSET Level 1 ONLINE course will help you begin to talk, taste and enjoy sake like a professional. During this course you will learn:
- The basic principles of sake production
Learn the fundamental steps in sake brewing, from rice polishing and fermentation to pressing and pasteurization. - The main types and styles of sake
Explore a wide range of sake styles, including Junmai, Honjozo, Ginjo, and Daiginjo, and understand the differences between them. - How to serve sake
Learn the essential techniques for serving sake, from choosing the right glassware and pouring methods to mastering the ideal serving temperatures. - Factors affecting the flavor of sake
Explore how rice, water, yeast, and brewing techniques shape the taste, aroma, and overall quality of sake. - How to describe sake using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake® (SAT)
Develop a structured approach to tasting that allows you to identify and describe the aroma, flavor, body, and finish of sake.

Details:
You pick the course date when you want to start! From anywhere you want! The course includes the book, available for download in the first online module, which you can access immediately after registration. The online exam is also included and can be scheduled with us via email cheers@vitishouse.com.
Course Structure:
Access and participation in the course online activities is essential. It is recommended to taste at least 5 different styles of sake during the program. For more information, please download the Specification sheet.
Entry Requirements:
There are no requirements for this qualification. Price includes the WSET® Level 1 online access, class, Vitis House registration, support, exam, certificate and lapel pin (if you pass the examination).
Vitis House and WSET seeks to assess all candidates in a way that puts them at no disadvantage, or advantage, over other candidates. If you have a reasonable adjustment request, please send us an email at least 45 calendar days before the course cheers@vitishouse.com
Certification/Exam:
Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions. Online candidates will take the exam via Remote Invigilation. This will give you the flexibility to take the exam from your computer, monitored via webcam, using a secondary recording device (cell phone). To schedule your exam (14 business days in advance) please contact us at cheers@vitishouse.com. Please note that you have six months, from the course start date, to sit the exam. After six months, you will have to purchase and re-take the entire course before you can sit the exam.
