Description
Chardonnay is the ultimate shape-shifter. Its style can swing from crisp, mineral-driven and unoaked to rich, creamy, and barrel-fermented; from the tension of cool climates to the generosity of warmer regions. Few grapes reveal place and winemaking choices as transparently as this one.
In Passport to Chardonnay, you’ll embark on a guided tasting that highlights the grape’s global versatility—exploring benchmarks from Burgundy, California, South Africa, Chile, New Zealand, and beyond. Together we’ll break down how terroir, climate, and winemaking decisions (oak vs. unoaked, malolactic fermentation, lees aging) translate into the glass.
This is an advanced tasting using the WSET Level 3 SAT (Systematic Approach to Tasting), designed to challenge your palate, sharpen your descriptors, and deepen your analytical skills. Whether you’re preparing for certification or simply want to taste Chardonnay like a pro, this session will expand your appreciation of the world’s most iconic white wine.
